Rosaleen Cox is an ex mountain ranger who called it quits after she realised hiking as a 9 - 5 is nice in theory, shite in practice. She now writes and prances about on stage which is generally less taxing on her joints. Her original television projects have gone into development with Roughcut TV (Big Boys, People Just Do Nothing), Lingo Pictures (Afterthe Party, Upright) and Fremantle. She has been commissioned by Soho Theatre, Meta, AACTA and Francesca Moody Productions (Fleabag, Baby Reindeer).
Rosaleen’s screen credits include Class of ’07 (Amazon Prime/NBCUniversal), The Tourist (Netflix/BBC One) and Austin (ITV/ABC). Her plays include STIFF DRINK, FREE DRUGS & KILLER WHALES and MAD WOMAN, which have been staged across the UK, Ireland, Australia and Los Angeles.
She is a member of the Soho Theatre Studio Writers’ Lab and Element Pictures Storyhouse Screenwriting Lab, she received the St Kilda Film Festival’s Director’s Choice Award for her debut short film and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s One to Watch. Rosaleen was a finalist for Australians in Film’s Untapped programme and shortlisted for the Painkiller Prize and Oxford Playhouse Playmaker.
Rosaleen’s latest play MERCURIAL, which she wrote and starred in, won Best Show at Riverside Studios before being selected and staged by Francesca Moody Productions for the 2025 and 2026 Edinburgh Fringe. In partnership with Serpentine Productions and 19th Street Productions, MERCURIAL received a five star, sold out run at the 2026 Dublin Fringe.
